I am currently interested in how anxiety associated with the awareness of self and others is processed. This anxiety finds expression in the fringes of culture and can at times take on the form of horror, abjection, and the grotesque as we attempt to normalize the fractures in our understanding. Our immediate interaction with the unfamiliar or otherness is shocking and often produces liminal experiences that evade our ability to even name them. As we start to interact with these novel experiences they become subjected to the forces of objectification and eventually enter the consensual lexicon of the collective psyche as entertainment and leisure.
